It’s time to get those fishing reels primed and ready! Mount Vernon is excited to once again be part of the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail!
The competition begins at 6:30 AM on May 20th—please note that the rules prohibit any competitors from fishing from midnight to 6:30 AM on the day of the tournament. You’ll have until 3:00 PM to reel in the biggest fish of the day before heading to the weigh-in station at Sherburne Park at 4:00 PM. Anyone who is not in line at the weigh-in station by 4:00 PM will automatically be disqualified.
Anglers may fish the Ohio River from the Newburgh Lock & Dam, South to Smithland Lock & Dam. The Wabash river is also fair game up to the Hwy 62 Bridge.
A seminar will reveal the tournament winners. The seminar is open to the public and will run from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Police & Fire Station on College Avenue in Mount Vernon.
Don’t forget there will also be a Kids’ Rodeo at Brittlebank Park. For more information about the Rodeo, hotel accommodations, driving directions, and registration, please visit goo.gl/bgpuhZ. Good luck and happy fishing!
